Workshops

Ceramic floors for workshops

The requirements placed on floors for workshops state that they must first and foremost be extremely resilient, slip-resistant, waterproof and easy to clean. Heavy equipment, vehicles and heavy-duty shelving wring out the floor, which would destroy conventional floors in a short time. Sharp-edged working materials, chemical cleaners, oil and much more that is used in a workshop can destroy the wrong plastic coating. Coarse-pored concrete or fragile tiles are out of place here. Also the cleaning of these floors is difficult to manage. In addition, conventional floors can represent a risk for your employees. Here you get the ideal floor for workshops, which can be used in all areas, such as:

  • Vehicle halls
  • assembly hall
  • workshops
  • car wash
  • lounges
  • stairwells
  • waiting areas
  • foyers
  • storerooms

The floor coverings available here – in particular porcelain stoneware – meet and exceed the legal requirements and ordinances which regulate exactly for workshops how these must be designed. Requirements can be found in BGR I 12, Arbeitsstätten-Richtlinie (ASR 8/1) and Arbeitssicherheitsinformation (ASI 4.40). Examples of these requirements are required for car repair shops:

  • Durability and slip resistance
  • Extreme hardness to protect against splintering
  • Easy to clean, waterproof surfaces
  • Bacteria-repellent acid, alkali and fat resistance
  • Hygienic and resilient floors for workshops

Porcelain stoneware is recommended for workshops. It is fire-sealed, hard-wearing, easy to clean and provides full slip resistance. Porcelain stoneware also cannot become electrostatically charged. Heavy equipment leaves no traces on these floor tiles as they allow a high point load. Due to the hard and densely fired ceramic material, water can still penetrate the floor surface with oils, fats or acids, which prevents the colonisation of bacteria and makes cleaning child’s play.
